About Thurrock Network Group
Business networking is an effective way to meet like-minded business owners that could help you and your business develop and grow. Networking is not about selling and is more about getting to know people and building relationships. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience at our meetings.
Thurrock Network Group was launched by Louise Ince of dotty hippo design in March 2010.
“I understood the importance of networking after starting my own business. I decided to set up the Thurrock Network Group as there were a lack of free networking events around Thurrock. My mission for Thurrock Network Group was to provide an opportunity for local businesses to network, make connections, and establish new working relationships in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.”
The monthly networking meetings were free for all local businesses, with a variety of business owners attending the in-person meetings.
Since March 2020, the meetings have been taken online via Zoom, which proved a valuable way of keeping in touch with members during the pandemic. It became apparent that catching up online weekly was a helpful way to discuss topics and check in on each other.
The online weekly meetings have now become the way that Thurrock Network Group members network, share ideas, and provide support.
Networking
The online Zoom meetings are free to attend and are held every Thursday for 1 hour, starting at 11:00 am. At the moment, there is only one business represented per industry, but this could change in the future. If you are unable to join the online meetings, you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
The Elevator Pitch
Everyone has the opportunity to perfect their elevator pitch each week by introducing themselves and their business and explaining what they do to the group in the first 60 seconds. It can be nerve-wracking, but if you write down your key points: who you are, what you do, and what you are looking for and practice, it does get easier!
Facebook Group
As well as networking online via Zoom, members of the group interact in our Facebook group, where we have daily thread posts to share plans for the week, tips, wins, and the opportunity to promote what they do.
I have been a member of the Thurrock Network Group group for 10 years. In that time, I have made many friends and used the services of other attendees. On one occasion, I received payment in advance from someone I had hardly spoken to because the relaxed and friendly environment encourages referrals.
