Let’s dive into Nikki’s journey and get to know more about her and Willow Social.
Tell us about your business
I originally set up as Willow Admin, offering small business admin support both virtually and at local businesses. My background was working in admin and managing admin staff, so it was a natural choice to offer admin support to solopreneurs.
I was becoming more interested in social media, particularly Facebook and creating content in Canva, and so, during the first lockdown in 2020, I took the opportunity to rebrand to Willow Social.
What products or services do you offer?
I offer social media support to service-based small business owners, which includes scheduling, organising content in Trello, creating social media content in Canva, and offering power hours. I have notebooks available on Amazon, and I also have editable Canva templates available to purchase on Payhip.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy cooking, and since the lockdowns, I have enjoyed completing online workouts at home. I am interested in history and learning new skills, and I have just started learning the basics of British Sign Language.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Thurrock Network Group?
I enjoy the camaraderie and support during our weekly online catch-ups. We discuss so many things and share stories, tips, and advice. Moving from face-to-face to online networking was good for me, as I feel more comfortable. I think it was very beneficial for everyone to go online, and I feel that the connections between those who joined online became a lot stronger.
Can you share your top networking tip for small business owners?
If you feel nervous about attending a networking event either online or in person, especially giving your elevator pitch, then write it down and practice it. I often write out my elevator pitch and read it in our meetings. I find that a lot easier, as often my mind would go blank or I would never say what I intended to!
